Savings at the traffic lights
The single cylinder motor which powers the Piaggio Medley S 125 benefits from the Start-Stop system named RISS (Regulator Inverter Start & Stop System). Essentially this automatically shuts off the engine after 3-7 seconds of inactivity. Then, once you’re ready to go again, all it takes is the lightest twist of the throttle to set the engine in motion. A feature not to be sneezed at for those coping with the erratic rhythm of city driving.
Efficiency and power
The Piaggio Medley S 125 ABS is powered by a four-valve, liquid-cooled single cylinder 125-cc engine which uses i-get (Italian Green Experience Technology) and electronic fuel injection.
Service intervals are reassuringly lengthy, with oil and filters only needing to be changed out every 10,000 km. The detail which lies behind each component also means lower fuel consumption, with a WMTC figure of 46.3 km / litre.
Style and function
The rear optical unit of the Piaggio Medley S 125 ABS features LED parking lights whilst the rear area itself is deceptively neat and contained given that it houses a spacious under seat compartment able to hold two full-face helmets. This space has been created by moving the fuel tank to the centre of the footwell with another advantage being that it also becomes easier to refuel.
Big wheels with style
The Piaggio Medley S 125 ABS is the sportiest model in this high wheel family and is easily recognisable thanks to the anthracite grey accents of elements such as the wheel rims, passenger grip bar and foot well plastic topside. It comes in its own special colour options of red (Rosso Opaco), black (Nero Grafite) and blue (Blue Sport) all of which have the striking black seat and interior.
The S version enjoys all the performance and engine standards of its standard twin and offers the same high level of everyday practicality. The rear shield contains a glove box with USB socket and a handy bag hook and under the seat is a compartment large enough to hold two full-face helmets.
Technology plays its part too, with the instrument cluster a mix of digital and analogue and the motor equipped with the Stop-Start system which automatically shuts off the engine when it stops at lights. Last but not least is the safety provided by dual-channel ABS.
